COMING SOON — 2026 Our Animals, Our Country $2 Aluminium Bronze Proof Coin

Discover Jurrgubadi, the goanna, through a coin celebrating language, Country and storytelling.

The Royal Australian Mint’s 2026 Our Animals, Our Country $2 Proof Coin features Jurrgubadi (goanna) warming himself in the morning sunshine of the Barkly Tablelands.

Featuring artwork by Gudanji/Wakaja and Kalkadoon artist Ryhia Dank, also known as nardurna, this release honours the Gudanji/Wakaja language and the Aboriginal storytelling traditions of the Northern Territory’s Barkly Tablelands and Gulf Country.

Ryhia is also an Ambassador for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which supports literacy in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.

Struck in aluminium bronze with a proof finish, this coin brings together Australian wildlife, contemporary Aboriginal art and the sharing of a living language.
