1972 Royal Australian Mint Uncirculated Six Coin Year Set - Red Wallet
The 1972 5 cent is key to the set.
Australia has been producing mint year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966.
The coins in mint sets are just the same as those we see in circulation, but are in perfect condition.
Any of Australia's decimal mint sets dated before 1975 are extremely hard to get, particularly with copper coins that are problem free.
Any decimal coin collector will tell you that the 1972 5 cent is the toughest coin to get in the whole series.
The packaging of this set is in perfect condition, the copper coins are standard for the period.
The set consists of six coins:
- One Cent
- Two Cents
- Five Cents
- Ten Cents
- Twenty Cents and
- Fifty Cents.
A total of 39 065 mint sets were released the six coins being housed unsealed in a red plastic wallet.
Please note that the RAM wallets tend to sweat and can become sticky. It is recommended to take the coins out of the wallets and store in 2×2’s
Early mint sets will have various degrees of toning on the bronze coins. Most will be dark.
