The medal was created to mark the silver Jubilee (1910-1935) of King George V and was awarded to members and servants of the Royal Household, members of the Armed Forces, government officials and public servants in Britain and the Commonwealth.
Around 85,235 medals were issued, including 6,500 to Australians, 7,500 to Canadians and 1,500 to New Zealanders - all of them unnamed.
The medal features King George V and Queen Mary on the obverse and the King's cypher with the dates 1910 and 1935 on the reverse.
The ribbon is dark red with dark blue and silver stripes on the edges.
