2009 Land Series - Frilled Lizard One Dollar ($1) Uncirculated Australian Decimal Coin

The frilled neck lizard is an Australian icon having appeared on the original 2 cent coin design. When trying to attract a mate or when frightened, the frilled ruff around its head unfolds making the lizard appear much larger. The lizard is able to hide by matching the colour of its surroundings.

This coin is part of a 6-coin Land Series of pad-printed coloured dollars. The coin is housed in an colourful package which includes educational information about the frilled neck lizard. The field on both obverse and reverse is frosted.
