This year the Royal Australian Mints 2 coin set features the 150th Anniversary of the Burke and Wills Expedition.
During 1860 and 1861 Robert O'Hara Burke and Willian John Wills lead an expedition of 19 men with the purpose of crossing Australia from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria - a distance of some 2800 kilometres.
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of this epic journey, the Royal Australian Mint along with The Royal Society of Victoria, have released this stunning two coin set.
The 20c coin shows Burke and Wills setting out of their epic journey and the $1 coin portrays the sole survivor John King, resting under the 'dig tree'.
